My Recent Upgrade

Yeah, its not 4x4 related, but we needed something in this forum! I just put a new deck and sub in my Lexus GS300. The end result is an awesome sounding stereo with a bunch of new features that kick ass!

I chose the Pioneer Avic D3 deck which features DVD, iPod interface and Navigation. My main goal was to get in-dash Navigation and iPod functionality.

Can't really see the change, but the whole glove box had to be taken apart to remove the factory cd changer and amp. I had to run the speaker wires across to the amp wiring harness bypassing the factory harness between the two.

iPod interface. This is my favorite feature. You can control your iPod through the head unit for easy playback. Also displays videos from the iPod. I don't think I will ever play cd's in my car again.


The install took a lot of work and wiring. Also performed a "bypass" on the head unit to enable video playback while driving. Not pictured I put a cheap amp and sub in the trunk...they were dirt cheap down in the "stereo district" downtown and perform very well. And the stereo district is not code for where to go for hot merchandise, downtown LA is divided into all sorts of districts and there are all pretty ghetto and full of homeless crack heads...

I guess when you move to california you get rid of your K5 w/ a big block and trade it for a Lexus w/ a sound system and an Ipod interface...

well its nice to have a good system, and the having basically limitless music on the iPod is fantastic. I can also watch videos and whatnot on my lunch break at work, kinda nice every now and again.

And I had the Lexus before moving...I even hauled a tranny in the trunk once haha

ya i had to go do some more today. runing parts for a fucking pos jeep it needs a door or 2 and fender or 2 now.
